2010 Event Wrap-Up and Thank You's
First of all, thanks to the more than 140 golfers who attended our event again this year. As you know, this event is the only fundraiser that EYO conducts with the sole purpose of putting money in the “Scholarship Fund”, which is what helps EYO get underprivileged kids into the sports programs, who might otherwise not be involved because of the cost to participate.
As you might expect, the list of people to thank for making this event a success is a long one and I’m sure to miss a few, so please know that I am very grateful for everyone who contributes to this event, even though I may be remiss in mentioning everyone.
First and foremost, I’d like to offer a big thanks to our Sponsors for this year:
- Front Nine Sponsor: Patuxent Engineering – John O’Connor’s company has been our “Front Nine Sponsor” for three straight years, not to mention everything that John and Christine volunteer to do for EYO.
- Back Nine Sponsor: Capitol Charm is John Stokes’ new business venture and he has always been very generous with his time and money – EYO owes John a huge debt of gratitude for all he’s done and continues to do.
- Golf Ball Sponsor: Cindy’s Liquors and Cindy’s Soft Serve – Tom and Cindy Quick and (Cindy’s Dad) have also supported this event every year and every year they seem to give more. We are very grateful for their support!
- Hole in One Sponsor: Corridor Mortgage Group – John Haberern, another multi-year supporter of this event, also increased his contribution this year and provided a generous gift to help with the Hole In One contest. Thanks for your generosity, John!
- Putting Contest Sponsor – Dial Electronics – What would an EYO golf tournament be without the putting contest?! Rich and Martha Batterton have provided a generous donation every year that I can remember to make sure we can offer this fun event. As always, thanks for your continued support of EYO, Rich and Martha!
- Goodie Bag Sponsor – Howard County Chiropractic – Russ and Veronica Antico generously donated the bags and the tees today, so a warm thank you to them for their generosity!
- Last, but certainly not least, we don’t really have a title for these contributors, but I’d like to thanks Dick’s Sporting Goods (Amy Ebersole and Doug Thornton) who do so much every year for the various EYO sports and are very generous supporters for this event as well.
- And, I’d also like to offer a personal thanks to ERM – Smith Industries, which is Rod Wotring’s company. Each year, Rod provides a generous contribution to this event and this year was no different, so thanks very much for your continued support Rod!
And, as you can tell by the hole-sponsorships and door prizes we have/had to give out this year, the local business community was also very generous this year with their donations for door prizes.
